FAQs

Niagen Plus

What is Niagen Plus?

Niagen Plus is a pharmaceutical-grade form of Niagen® (nicotinamide riboside chloride), designed for intravenous (IV) and injectable administration under medical supervision. Niagen® is patented nicotinamide riboside chloride (NRCl), a form of vitamin B3 that serves as a precursor to NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), a coenzyme essential for cellular energy production, repair, and supports metabolic resilience.¹

How is Niagen Plus different from Tru Niagen®?

Tru Niagen® is a food-grade dietary supplement taken orally and available directly to consumers.

Niagen Plus is a pharmaceutical-grade, prescription-only formulation administered by a healthcare professional or under medical guidance, designed for intravenous or injectable administration.

What is NAD+ and why does it matter?

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every cell in the body and is essential for hundreds of biological processes including cellular energy metabolism and cellular health. NAD+ levels naturally decline with age and chronic exposure to metabolic stressors, which is one reason why strategies to support NAD+ production have gained significant scientific interest.

How does Niagen Plus work?

Niagen Plus delivers nicotinamide riboside (NR), a precursor molecule that cells use to produce NAD+. Niagen IV bypasses digestion for 100% bioavailability, providing NR that your cells can convert into NAD+ to support cellular energy and metabolic health.Âą

Do I need a prescription for Niagen Plus?

Yes. Niagen Plus therapies require a prescription and must be administered or supervised by a licensed healthcare professional.

Who administers Niagen Plus treatments?

Niagen Plus treatments are administered by trained medical professionals in licensed clinics, or self-administered at home under prescription-only, clinician-directed guidance.

Who may benefit from Niagen Plus therapy?

Healthcare providers may recommend Niagen Plus for individuals seeking cellular health support. A qualified medical professional will determine if treatment is appropriate for your individual health needsÂą

Is Niagen Plus safe?

Niagen® (nicotinamide riboside chloride), the active ingredient in Niagen Plus, has been evaluated in 40+ published human clinical studies in oral form, with documented tolerability.

For the IV formulation, a randomized, placebo-controlled pilot study² evaluated acute response, and a peer-reviewed retrospective tolerability study³ in a real-world clinical setting reported minor transient experiences and no clinically significant changes in liver enzymes or inflammatory markers at 30 days post-infusion.

Subcutaneous administration (Niagen® At-Home Injection Kit) has been clinically studied and shown to be safe and well-tolerated in human studies

Niagen Plus is prescription-only and administered or prescribed by licensed healthcare professionals.Âą

How do I find a clinic that offers Niagen Plus?

You can locate authorized clinics and providers through the Niagen Plus Clinic Locator on the Niagen Plus website.

Niagen® At-Home Injection Kit

What is the Niagen At-Home Injection Kit?

The Niagen At-Home Injection Kit provides a prescription formulation of Niagen®designed for subcutaneous injection outside of a clinic setting, under medical supervision and guidance from a licensed healthcare provider. Niagen Bioscience is not the manufacturer or compounder of this product. Compounding is performed by a licensed 503B outsourcing facility.

How does the at-home injection program work?

After purchasing the At-Home Injection Kit, patients will be prompted to complete a medical intake questionnaire. Once the questionnaire is complete it will be reviewed by a licensed physician who determines whether treatment is appropriate. If prescribed, the injection kit is shipped along with instructions and provided medical guidance for proper administration.

What type of injection is used?

The Niagen At-Home Injection Kit is designed for subcutaneous administration — injections into the fatty tissue layer beneath the skin. Your licensed provider will determine the appropriate administration method. The most common injection site for subcutaneous injection is in the abdomen.

Do I still medical supervision if I inject at home?

Medical supervision is provided through a licensed telehealth provider. Even though injections may be performed at home, the treatment requires a prescription and ongoing management by a licensed healthcare professional. If you have any questions regarding the treatment you can reach out to your provider by navigating to your account, then to your order. Within your order there is a chat button for you to communicate directly with the provider who approved your prescription.

Is the at-home injection the same as Niagen IV?

No. While both deliver Niagen®, Niagen IV is administered intravenously in a clinical setting, while the at-home kit uses subcutaneous injections that can be administered outside the clinic, with medical guidance.

How often do I use the injection kit?

Dosage and frequency depend on the treatment plan established by your healthcare provider.

Who should not use Niagen injectable therapy?

Individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or managing certain medical conditions—including prior (or current) cancer diagnosis, liver disease, or kidney disease—should consult their healthcare provider before use. Children should not use Niagen Plus. Only a qualified medical professional can determine eligibility.

Is the Niagen At-Home Injection Kit available in my state?

Availability varies by state. Some states have restrictions on the shipment of compounded prescription products. Eligibility will be confirmed as part of the telehealth consultation process. Currently, the Niagen At-Home Injection Kit is not available to ship to Alabama, Arkansas, and California.

Niagen IV

What is Niagen IV?

Niagen IV is an intravenous therapy that delivers pharmaceutical-grade Niagen® (nicotinamide riboside chloride) directly into the bloodstream to support NAD+ production.²

How is Niagen IV different from NAD+ IV therapy?

Niagen IV delivers NRCl, which delivers NR into the cell, where it converts to NAD+. Traditional NAD+ IV therapies deliver NAD+ directly, which cannot cross the cell membrane intact. Your body must break it down into its smaller components, including NR, which crosses the cell membrane directly. A randomized, placebo-controlled pilot study found that Niagen IV increased NAD+ levels 20% more than NAD+ IV, peaking at three hours post-infusion.²

How long does a Niagen IV treatment take?

Treatment time may vary depending on dosage and provider protocols. Your healthcare professional will determine the appropriate infusion schedule.

How often should I receive Niagen IV?

Treatment frequency varies based on individual goals and provider recommendations. Some patients receive treatments periodically, while others may follow a structured program recommended by their healthcare professional.

What should I expect during a Niagen IV session?

During treatment, a healthcare professional places an IV line to deliver the therapy. Patients typically relax in a comfortable setting while the infusion is administered.

Are there any side effects?

Expected side effects may include jaw tingling or tightness. Your healthcare provider will discuss potential side effects and monitor your treatment.
